Brunei 1st Inter-School Wei Qi (Go) Tournament

Game of Wei Qi (Go) is expanding in Brunei. Several colleges have their own ‘Go Club’, which makes ‘inter-school Go tournament’ possible. The tournament is held in PTE Katok’s Multi Purpose Hall. It lasted for 3 days, from 8th Dec 09 to 10th Dec 09.

There are 20 participants, from various colleges and university in Brunei, PTE Katok, SMSO and ITB. The youngest player this year is Zhen Ru, aged 10. Average age of the players is 20 years old.

Each player plays up to 5 matches with different opponents. Winning 5 out of 5 wins the 1st place.

Xinwen said that everyone looks for a miracle in the game of Go when they know that they are losing. One way to enjoy Go is the enjoy playing ‘Fuse’, it could help to turn the table of the game. Enjoy every phase, ‘joseki’ in the early game, ‘moyo’ in the mid game and ‘fuse’ near the end game.

Chloe Screening Night @ OGDC

Chloe Screening was held on last Saturday, 28th November 09, I’m impressed by the facilities provided by OGDC, Brunei

Walkaround, shopping in KL

We’re (Xinwen, Sharen and I) flying back to KL from Korea, on the night of 27th Oct 09.

I met ahboy (alex) in KL. He’s the roommate of xinwen.

and this is Xinwen.. the next morning, we had..

We saw this digital videocam capable of getting up-close video.. as close as our eyes. Recognise him? he’s xinwen.. ↑

Had Ayam Penyet before we headed to ..

.. airport. Long traffics. One of the thing that I missed in Brunei is the chance to drive around in your own vehicle, with less traffic + big roads. KL City is too busy. However, Brunei is too relaxed. lol

Last photo for this post. View from xinwen’s apartment. handheld. Aint a spectacular photo, but I love the feel of it. I don’t know why too.

4th KPMC Day 4 in Korea

We had day trip on the 4th day of KPMC. We took a short walk from Core Riveria (our hotel) and reached a place where anyone can play with Professional Dan players.

This is a game where PRO Dan players (R), plays with multiple go players at the same time.

Just outside the hall, there are mini games like the one above. ↑

It’s like a see-saw where two people jumps on the side of the plank, with right timing for smooth continuous jumps.

Kids trying on it. Hey, it’s wrong to step on the middle on the plank. ↑

Another mini game where players throw the ring (he’s holding it), into a pole around 2 meters away.

This is the place where we had our lunch during the day trip. ↑

Normal small appetizers / dishes are served, as well as kimchi. But the main food is …

Bibimbap, vegetables and meat are mixed with rice with a raw egg placed on top. Before we eat, we should stir thoroughly, which looks like..

Bibimbap, tasted very good indeed. I missed it. much better than kimchi. lol

Children were dressed traditionally and played tug of war. I’m not sure it’s because they know we are coming, or it’s their everyday routine.

She’s cute, and very enthusiastic in winning. Happy girl. ↑

Saw this spider nearby, I don’t dare to get up close with the sigma, got this with the Canon 55-250mm lens.

He’s said to be the king who took all chinese characters and converted into korean character, hence the korea language. ↑

2 female dressed traditionally waiting for their commercial shot at nearby. They were waiting for passerby to help them get a shot. I approached them and used my camera to snap it as well. Who do you prefer? Korean, Asian and Caucasian.

4th KPMC Day 3 in Korea

Baduk Instructor’s Workshop 2009 is held on the third day of the KPMC event.

Instructor’s workshop this year focus on the behavior of a beginner go player  in detecting threat and ‘atari’. A new method in determining the level of go players have been introduced.

I got 2NE1 for around BND$13 only. Bought Big Bang for my sis.

4th KMPC Day 2 in Korea

Checking on the pass events of KPMC. We saw many familiar faces like peng hui, lydia, queenie and hazim, and of course Xinwen

It’s rare to see nice cars in Jeonju, so I snapped this. 80% of the population uses their local cars. I guess Hyundai is a more popular brand there.

They just got married, lucky to get this shot as the car is moving. I wonder if everyone does the same thing, as in sitting at the hood of their car.
